Independent Documentary Photographer / Journalist

  

Born in the south of France, near Toulouse, I soon moved to Paris to study journalism and got specialized in documentary filmmaking. My journalism background impacts my way of photographing as I always investigate a subject as a journalist first and people who may be involved. 

 

I got into photography when I was 17 and lived in Denver, Colorado where I attended a photography class in high school. (As I dropped cooking class because I couldn't figure out the measuring thing and got frustrated pretty quickly with the poor, flavorless cakes I ended up making). 

Photography was a perfectly unknown world to me. But soon, I got my first film camera, a Pentax K1000, and started to wander around. This was the perfect medium to document life. I quickly related to it as an extension of my body and a different tool to perceive the world. To me, the aperture is like the opening of the eye and you have to explore different angles and depth of field to understand someone, and capture different parts of their personality. 

 

When I went back to France, I realized journalism was a medium to document society close to photography so I decided to do both. Which led me to embody a personal project I worked on for more than 2 years, called "Another America" about the relationship between the inhabitants and their land in 5 countries in South America (available on my other website www.adelineauzuech.com). 

The consecration was an exhibition in France in 2016 and one of the photodocumentary is also exhibited from August 2019 to February 2020 at the Helinä Rautavaara Ethnographic museum in Finland.
